  1. Dear Jake,

Hello! My name is Brendan Jaccarino. I am a high school graduate from the Rochester, NY area. I am skateboarder of 6 years and I love where skateboarding has taken me and the people it has shown me. It has opened my young eyes to a whole new world. It has made me appreciate the little things in life, and to let the big things go. I have no idea what I would be doing without skateboarding. So, just for that, I thank you for your contribution to skating and art and just everything Alien Workshop and yourself do.

To the reason I am writing (typing) this. When I was in fourth grade, I was going around my house looking for interesting things to play with (it was a pass time of mine, and still is), when I stumbled upon my mom's old single lens reflex! From that moment on, I have been addicted to photography and taking pictures. In high school my passion for photography grew exponentially. I was always with the schools photography teacher learning as much as my small little human brain could hold! I was taking a portfolio class this last year as a senior to help with college. It helped me to get into all of the schools I had applied for except for one (damn you RISD!), but I got into my dream school which is School of Visual Arts in New York City. I could not be any more excited for my accaptance to SVA, but...I am not sure this is the route I wish to walk down. The school costs close to 50 grand a year, and right now I am working two jobs, full time and part time, to get as much money as I possibly can to afford this (no fun, am I right?). I want to get right into the business and do what I love! I just need an opportunity to get me started. (Not as easy to find as one might think!)

So now I am here, typing this electronic mail to you. I am asking, if there are any opportunities at Alien Workshop for a photographer? I understand that I am not the most experienced photographer and I am so willing to learn from photographers at Alien Workshop. I would be more that grateful for any opportunities you present to me. I am a fast learner and hard worker (cliche, I know, but true!). I feel this is more along the path I wish to walk in my life. I would be proud to work for a your skating company and I have always felt positive that one day I would be working and doing what I love for such a company as Alien Workshop.

If you could help me out at all, anything would be great! I'm sort of on a time crunch here and I'm trying to just get a reply from someone who could at least point me in the right direction. An internship, paid or unpaid, would be the best. If you could give me someone to contact or talk to someone at your company I would be so happy and grateful! (As would my girlfriend whose helping me write this! Otherwise it would be a mess!)
